- Port placed 8th out of 8 but scored double the points from last year (109 total). We had 12 girls contribute to the team score in 9 individual events and 4 relays.
Meet Highlights: Another great invite on back to back weekends! The girls did great with the majority of swims either PR’s or very close. We had 25 time drops with an average of 2.5+ seconds per drop. 12 girls helped get points on the board. Top scorers were Freshman Kamryn Lapacek (21 points) and Sophomore Sydney Hannert (24 points) placing in both their individual events. We also had Freshman Leah Sheriff and Sophomore Sarah Howell both score 5 points for the team in their individual events. Nice job, girls!
Individual Highlights: The meet began with an 11th place finish in the 200 Medley race with Sophomore Leah Sheriff, Sophomore Sydney Hannert, Sophomore Erin Grisar, and Freshman Kamryn Lapacek (2:17.84) earning 12 points for the team. In the 200 Free, we have a lot of depth and are getting closer to scoring in this event. Junior Allison Schmutzler earned a point coming in 16th with a time of 2:29.98 followed by Sophomore Caroline Hadaceck (17th place 2:30.84), Grisar (19th place 2:32.64) and Senior Liv Marinez (22nd place 2:39.27). Sheriff had a great meeting dropping time in all her events. In the 200 IM, she finished 12th with a time of 2:49.20 earning 5 points for the team. In the 50 Free, Lapacek finished 9th with a time of 28.18 earning 9 points for the team. Sophomore Sarah Howell, Marinez, and Freshman Nolari Hingiss also swam the 50 Free. Howell got 21st place (31.39), Marinez got 24th place (34.05) and Hingiss got 30th (36.98). In the 100 Fly, Hannert earned the highest place for an individual event coming in 4th place with a time of 1:10.80 which was also a PR by 1 second. Grisar also earned points in this event coming in 14th with a time of 1:20.78 (also a PR by 3 seconds). Lapacek placed 7th in the 100 Free (1:03.12) earning 12 points for the team. Freshman Taylor Peiffer and Senior Allana Setzer also swam the 100 Free both achieving PR’s. Peiffer came in 23rd (1:12.68) and Setzer 27th (1:17.79). Sophomore Reese Crandall swam the event for the first time with a time of 1:22.23. Nice job, Reese! We had 2 girls score points in the 500 Free. Hannert finished 9th (6:27.10) contributing 9 points to the team score. Howell placed 12th (6:51.13) dropping 23 seconds! Sophomore Olivia Heinecke continues to drop time in this event coming in 21st with a time of 7:29.53. The 200 Free Relay team of Junior Allison Schmutzler, Hadacek, Sheriff and Lapacek had a great race so close to another PR time earning 11th place and 12 points for team (2:01.56). Our 2nd 200 Free Relay team of Freshman Emmalee Schmutlzer, Freshman Avery Phillips, Sophomore Julia Burke and Crandall finished with a time of 2:30.86. Nice job, girls! In the 100 Back, Sheriff finished 20th (1:21.46), Peiffer finished 24th (1:29.15) and Hingiss finished 26th (1:30.30). Allison Schmutlzer led our team in the 100 Breaststroke finishing 15th with a time of 1:28.13 earning 2 points for the team and Burke finishing 25th (1:36.37). We had both of our 400 Free Relay teams score points for the team (24 total). The 400 Free Relay team of Grisar, Howell, Hadacek and Hannert finished 9th and scored 18 points. Our 2nd 400 Free Relay team of E. Schmutzler, Peiffer, Setzer and Marinez finished 14th (5:16.86) with great swims by all the girls earning 6 points for the team! An OUTSTANING meet for our girls. They are working hard and it is showing in their times. Keep up the good work, girls!
