Girls Varsity Swimming vs. Grafton

Meet Highlights: The girls did well for this point in the season.  We had a few significant PR’s from the some of the Freshman.  Top scorers were Sophomore Sydney Hannert (8 points), Senior Eliana Wichman (7 points), Freshman Kamryn Lapacek (6 points) and Junior Allison Schmutzler (6 points).   Our top JV scorer was Nolari Hingiss (12 points).  Our focus right now is working hard at practice and finetuning technique for the next two weeks so we can finish strong at the end of the season.  Keep up the good work, girls!

Individual Highlights: The meet began with 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley race with Senior Eliana Wichmann, Sophomore Sydney Hannert, Sophomore Erin Grisar, and Freshman Kamryn Lapacek (2:17.32) earning 4 points for the team.  In the 200 Free we had some solid performances by Lapacek (2nd place 2:18.00), Freshman Caroline Hadacek (5th place 2:35.00) and Grisar (2:39.53).  Freshman Leah Sheriff scored a nice 2nd place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:53.05.  The girls continue to drop time in the JV 50 free with strong races from Senior Allana Setzer (4 place 35.07), Sophomore Julia Burke (5th place 35.78), Freshman Maria Wichman (6th place 35.99), Freshman Avery Phillips (Exh. 35.32).  Sophomore Sarah Howell led the way for our team in the Varsity 50 Free with a 3rd place finish and PR (30.40) followed by Junior Allison Schmutzler (4th place 31.20) and Olyvia Marinez (6th place 34.90).  In the 100 Fly, Hannert and Grisar teamed up for a great race.  Hannert finished 2nd (1:11.78) and Grisar 5th (1:24.35).  Freshman Nolari Hingiss won the JV 100 Free with a time of 1:17.62 and a PR.  Setzer and Freshman Reese Crandall also swam strong.  Setzer finished 3rd (1:22.23) and Crandall 5th (1:27.14).  In the 100 Free, Lapacek finished 4th (1:04.11), Wichmann 5th (1:07.27) and Freshman Taylor Peiffer 6th (1:15.02).  In the 500 Free, Hannert pushed through for a 2nd place finish (6:39.04) followed by Howell in 4th place (6:50.39) and Marinez in 6th (7:30.74).  The Varsity 200 Free Relay of Lapacek, Hadacek, Sheriff, and E. Wichmann got 2nd (2:03.03).  Hingiss returned for another win in the JV 100 Back and PR by 4 seconds (1:25.17).  E. Wichmann led the way in the Varsity 100 Back coming in 1st and a PR (1:14.56) followed by Sheriff (5th place 1:28.83) and Peiffer (6th place 1:29.13).  In the JV 100 Breast, E. Schmutzler finished strong in 4th place and a PR by 8 seconds (1:42.00) and Julia Burke in 5th (1:43.10).  In the 100 Breast, A. Schmutzler had a great race coming in 2nd (1:28.88) followed by Hadacek (4th place 1:32.20) and Heinecke (6th place 1:41.33).  Port had a strong finish to the meet with a 2nd place 400 Free Relay with Grisar, A. Schmutzler, Howell, and anchored by Hannert (4:48.53).  The girls swam strong and continue to show improvement both in technique and times.  Nice job!
