Meet Highlights: This was our first invite of the season and the girls definitely came in prepared and ready to go.  12 girls helped get points on the board.  Top scorers were Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek (13 points), Freshman Josie Tetzlaff (11 points) and Freshman Abbey Lotz (6 points) with all of them placing in both of their individual events.  The girls dropped time in 25 swims and two of our top Varsity relays set a PR for the season.  Nice job, girls!

Individual Highlights: The meet began with both our A and B 200 Medley Relays scoring a combined 18 points.  The two relays finished 12 and 13th, separated by less than 2 seconds showing what incredible depth we have on this team.  Relay A members were Freshman Josie Tetzlaff, Senior Allison Schmutzler, Junior Erin Grisar, and Freshman Emma Huber (2:16.08).  Relay B members were Sophomore Taylor Peiffer, Sophomore Caroline Hadacek, Junior Sydney Hannert, and Freshman Audyn Setzer (2:17.53).  Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek and Freshman Abbey Lotz had great races in the 200 Free with Lapacek taking 13th (2:16.19) and Lotz taking 15th (2:20.00).  Setzer and Hadacek also swam well with Setzer taking 19th (2:24.93 PR) and Hadacek taking 21st (2:25.41) both only a few seconds away from scoring.  In the 200 IM, Tetzlaff led the way finishing 13th (2:38.52 PR) followed by Hannert (17th place, 2:45.18 PR), Sophomore Leah Sheriff (22nd place, 2:53.48) and Peiffer (2:51.00).  Huber and Howell continued the meet with solid performances in the 50 Free.  Huber finished 21st (29.21) and Howell finished 27th (31.09).  Sophomore Shannon McConahy swam her way to a PR finishing 29th (31.69 PR) and so did Junior Reese Crandall (37th place, 34.78 PR).  For diving, Freshman Stephanie Schlessinger did well for her first invite with an 8-dive score of 160.95, only 1 place away from scoring.  We scored the most team points for an individual event in the 100 Fly.  Tetzlaff came in 10th with a PR (1:10.17 PR) backed up by teammate Lotz (13th place, 1:11.14).  Grisar and Hannert also swam well with Grisar coming in 19th (1:17.52) and Hannert coming in 21st (1:18.41) both less than 3 seconds from scoring.  In the 100 Free, Lapacek earned the highest place for an individual event with a 9th place finish (1:01.41).  Huber finished 19th (1:06.05) less than 1 second from scoring.  Freshman Maddi Klein set a PR in her swim (24th place, 1:08.11 PR) and A. Schmutzler swam strong just tenths away from her PR (29th place, 1:10.82).  The 500 girls are a tough bunch with everyone setting a PR: Setzer (20th place, 6:36.25 PR), Howell (22nd place, 6:47.10 PR), Grisar (24th place, 6:47.90) and Sheriff (25th place, 6:52.19).  The 200 Free Relay team of Huber, Tetzlaff, Lotz, and Lapacek had a great race shaving a few tenths off their PR to finish 10th and earn 14 points for the team (1:55.20 PR).  Our 200 Free B Relay team did an awesome job with all the girls either tying or breaking their PR’s.  The team of Senior Ellie Meyer, Sophomore Maria Wichman, Sophomore Emmalee Schmutzler and Junior Kelly Ball finished with a time of 2:19.78 (19th place).  Peiffer helped get some points on the board in the 100 Backstroke (14th place, 1:16.18).  The next three ladies to hit the wall in the 100 Back all set PR’s: Klein (24th place, 1:22.23), McConahy (25th place, 1:22.52) and Hingiss (26th place, 1:22.87)…again, what depth we have!  Hadacek had a breakthrough swim in her 100 Breaststroke crushing her previous PR by more than 4 seconds (13th place, 1:25.65 PR).  Her teammates also swam strong within striking distance of their best times: A. Schmutzler (21st place, 1:30.94), Junior Julia Burke (29th place, 1:35.80 PR), Junior Olivia Heinecke (33rd place, 1:37.68).  The 400 Free Relay team of Lotz, Grisar, Hannert and Lapacek did a great job earning 8th place (4:21.35 PR). Our 400 Free B Relay team of Klein, Sheriff, Setzer and Peiffer finished 14th (4:34.46).  Overall, a great event at our home pool with good sportsmanship and race efforts.  We are VERY proud of the girls!
