Meet Highlights: The girls swam very well against Plymouth.  We had more time drops compared to our meet on Tuesday with 37 best times.  Definitely a good trend!  Top scorers were Freshman Josie Tetzlaff (12 points), Freshman Abbey Lotz (9 points) and Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek (6 points).  Our top JV scorer was Avery Phillips (10 points).  We had so many girls with great performances that we chose four Swimmers of the Meet: Junior Kelly Ball, Freshman Serena Baumann, Junior Sarah Howell, and Freshman Emma Kasza-James.  Congratulations, girls!

Individual Highlights: The meet began with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with Freshman Josie Tetzlaff, Sophomore Caroline Hadacek, Junior Erin Grisar and Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek (2:16.66) earning 4 points for the team.  The girls dominated the JV 200 Free with Sophomore Avery Phillips taking 1st place (2:39.66 PR), Sophomore Emmalee Schmutzler taking 3rd (2:48.52 PR) and Junior Kelly Ball taking 4th (2:56.61).  In the Varsity 200 Free, the girls performed well with Lapacek placing 3rd (2:18.03), Freshman Audyn Setzer placing 4th (2:22.17 PR) and Hadacek placing 5th (2:22.99 PR).  Sophomore Taylor Peiffer had a good effort in the JV 200 IM coming in 1st (2:54.71).  In the Varsity 200 IM, Tetzlaff won the event and earned a PR (2:36.20 PR).  Freshman Abbey Lotz and Sophomore Leah Sheriff also had good races with Lotz coming in 3rd (2:47.89) and Sheriff coming in 4th (2:54.21).  In the JV 50 Free, Sophomore Avery Phillips led the way for the Pirates (2nd place, 32.81) followed by Junior Reese Crandall (4th place, 34.12), Freshman Amanda Nolasco (39.07 PR), Senior Ellie Meyer (39.56 PR) and Freshman Ari Camilo (41.11).  The girls had solid swims in the Varsity 50 Free with Freshman Emma Huber finishing 3rd (29.23), Junior Sarah Howell finishing 5th (29.99 PR) and Freshman Eva Perez finishing 6th (30.04).  Congratulations to Howell for hitting an important milestone in this event, breaking 30 seconds for the first time!  The divers helped get some more points in our column with Freshman Stephanie Schlessinger finishing 4th (148.45 points) and Freshman Emma Kasza-James finishing 5th (127 points).  Freshman Serena Baumann rocked the JV 100 Fly swimming it for the first time and winning the event with a time of 1:40.81!  The girls swept the Varsity 100 Fly taking all three top spots: Lotz (1st place, 1:10.19), Junior Erin Grisar (2nd place, 1:19.77), Junior Sydney Hannert (3rd place, 1:19.83).  The girls continue to improve in time and technique in the JV 100 Free.  Perez charged ahead coming in 1st and earning a PR (1:06.61 PR).  Ball also earned a PR (4th place, 1:12.83 PR) followed by Freshman Maddi Boyle (5th place, 1:13.87), Sophomore Nolari Hingiss (1:13.17), Freshman Ashley Bensen (1:16.76), and Sophomore Maria Wichmann (1:17.78).  Port swam strong in the Varsity 100 Free.  Lapacek earned the most points for our team in this event with a 3rd place finish (1:02.01).  Huber picked up another point coming in 5th (1:04.75 PR) and Freshman Maddi Klein finished 6th (1:07.50).  Sheriff won the JV 500 Free with a time of 7:00.65 backed up by her teammate Junior Olivia Heinecke who swam a PR (3rd place, 7:32.78 PR).  Our depth continues to show in the Varsity 500 with all three girls swimming best times and taking 2nd through 4th place.  Setzer swam a 6:28.22 PR (2nd place), Grisar 6:41.84 PR (3rd place), and Howell 6:42.54 PR (4th place).  The Varsity 200 Free Relay of Lapacek, Huber, Tetzlaff and Lotz came in 2nd (1:56.24).  For the first time in years, we filled all three JV 100 Back spots!  Hingiss had a great swim coming in 2nd with a best time (1:21.34 PR).  Senior Abbie Smith also earned a PR (5th place, 1:43.81 PR).  Camilo swam the event for the first time finishing 6th (2:00.59).  Nice job, ladies!  The girls outscored their opponents in the Varsity 100 Back.  Tetzlaff finished 2 seconds ahead of her competition (1st place, 1:11.95 PR).  Peiffer finished 3rd (1:18.05) and Klein finished 5th (1:23.09).  In the JV 100 Breast, E. Schmutzler swam a best time of 1:34.06 (3rd place), Heinecke swam a 1:40.82 (4th place) and Bensen swam a 1:40.03 and PR (5th place).  In the Varsity 100 Breast, Hadacek finished 4th (1:29.44) followed by Hannert (5th place 1:30.43) and Burke (6th place, 1:35.49).  The 400 Free Relay team of Huber, Klein, Setzer, and Lotz finished 3rd (4:26.63).  This was a great meet for the girls with a high number of PR’s.  Nice job girls!
