Meet Highlights: The girls had a great meet with Varsity scoring 23 more points than last year, and JV scoring 29 more points.  They earned best times in 28 individual events and swam 4 new events.  They also earned a PR in the 400 Free Relay by two seconds with a time of 4:18.47. Top scorers were Freshman Josie Tetzlaff with 10 points, Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek with 8 points, and Freshman Abbey Lotz with 6 points.  Our top JV scorer was Shannon McConahy (7 points).  We had one event win from Tetzlaff in the 100 Fly.  Congratulations to the Swimmers of the Meet Leah Sheriff and Ellie Meyer! 

Individual Highlights: The meet began with a 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with Freshman Josie Tetzlaff, Sophomore Caroline Hadacek, Junior Erin Grisar and Sophomore Kamryn Lapacek (2:16.43).  In the JV 200 Free, Sophomore Avery Phillips kicked her way to a 2nd place finish and PR (2:33.99) followed by Freshman Ashley Bensen (4th place, 2:59.44) and Freshman Serena Baumann (6th place, 2:57.30).  We had some strong swims in the Varsity 200 Free with Freshman Abbey Lotz taking 2nd place (2:15.48), Freshman Audyn Setzer taking 3rd place (2:26.33), and Sophomore Leah Sheriff taking 5th (2:32.64 PR).  Tezlaff led the way in the Varsity 200 IM taking 2nd place (2:38.65).  Junior Sydney Hannert and Sophomore Taylor Peiffer also swam well in this event finishing 5th (2:49.51) and 6th (2:56.38) respectively.  We had 10 girls compete in the JV 50 Free and had 2 PR’s in this event: Grisar (1st place, 30.09), Hadacek (3rd place, 30.16), Junior Sarah Howell (5th place, 31.27), Freshman Maddie Boyle (31.76 PR), Junior Reese Crandall (34.81), Sophomore Maria Wichmann (35.65), Freshman Ari Camilo (36.95), Senior Abbie Smith (38.66), Senior Ellie Meyer (39.00 PR), Freshman Amanda Nolasco (39.92).  Lapacek gave it her all in the Varsity 50 Free (2nd place, 28.22) followed by Freshman Eva Perez (5th place, 29.49) and Freshman Emma Huber (6th place, 29.54).  Our Pirate divers had an awesome meet with both girls earning their highest totals for the season.  Freshman Stephanie Schlessinger finished 3rd (157.70 PR) and Freshman Emma Kasza-James finished 4th (152.60 PR).  Tetzlaff pulled off our only event win of the evening in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:09.26.  Lotz and Hannert also put forth a good effort in this event with Lotz swimming a time of 1:12.66 (4th place) and Hannert swimming a 1:21.68 (6th place).  We had 8 girls compete in the JV 100 Free with one PR in this event: Sophomore Shannon McConahy (3rd place, 1:11.21), Phillips (5th place, 1:12.87), Sophomore Emmalee Schmutzler (6th place, 1:14.33), Wichmann (1:18.98), Baumann (1:20.56 PR), Crandall (1:22.42), Nolasco (1:31.89).  All three girls in the Varsity 100 Free helped get points on the board.  Lapacek came in 2nd (1:01.81), Perez 4th (1:06.07 PR), and Huber 5th (1:07.83).  In the JV 500 Free, Sheriff fought to the finish to come out on top (1st place, 6:46.54 PR) followed by Freshman Maddi Klein (3rd place, 6:55.37) and Junior Olivia Heinecke (5th place, 7:28.11 PR).  In the Varsity 500 FR, the girls gave it their all with Freshman Audyn Setzer coming in 3rd (6:18.90), Grisar coming in 5th (6:24.71 PR), and Howell coming in 6th (6:59.44).  The Varsity 200 Free Relay of Lapacek, Huber, Tetzlaff and Lotz finished 2nd (1:56.62).  McConahy did a great job representing Port in the JV 100 Back finishing 2nd with a time of 1:22.82. In the Varsity 100 Back, the girls earned three points for the team: Peiffer (4th place, 1:20.79), Klein (5th place, 1:22.70), and Hingiss (6th place, 1:22.85).  E. Schmutzler led the way in the JV 100 Breaststroke coming in 3rd (1:36.71) followed by Bensen (4th place, 1:39.33 PR) and Heinecke (5th place, 1:39.96).  In the Varsity 100 Breaststroke, Hadacek was the first Pirate to the wall finishing 3rd (1:28.18). Senior Allison Schmutzler finished 5th (1:32.29) and Burke finished 6th (1:35.24).  Port had a strong finish to the meet with a 2nd place 400 Free Relay and a PR with Lapacek, Grisar, Setzer and Lotz (4:18.47 PR).  The girls have worked hard and are ready for their final meets of the season.  Nice job girls!
