Meet Highlights: The girls showed significant improvement at this meet.  Now that they are getting more comfortable with the flow of the meet, we are beginning to focus on technique of start, turns and finishes.  Top scorers were Sophomore Emma Huber with 7 individual points followed by Sophomores Stephanie Schlessinger and Abbey Lotz with 6 points each. Sophomore Stephanie Schlessinger earned the highest scoring spot with a 1st place in diving. The JV swimmers did well scoring 25 more points than Kohler.  We saw 49 individual PR’s and all three of our top relays beat their best times from last week. The Swimmers/Divers of the Meet were awarded to Sophomore Natalie Wells and Senior Kelly Ball.

Individual Highlights: The girls opened the meet with a 3rd place finish in the Varsity 200 Medley race, with Junior Taylor Peiffer, Junior Caroline Hadacek, Junior Leah Sheriff and Sophomore Emma Huber swimming a time of 2:18.20 PR.  We had another week of a full roster for the JV and Varsity 200 Free, a great accomplishment for our team. Peiffer scored 4 points for JV (2nd place, 2:44.89) followed by Senior Olivia Heinecke (3rd place, 2:51.77 PR) and Sophomore Natalie Wells (4th place, 3:23.23).  In the Varsity 200 Free, Sophomore Audyn Setzer led the way for our team coming in 4th place with a PR (2:26.64) followed by teammates Senior Kelly Ball (5th place, 2:42.47 PR) and Junior Avery Phillips (6th place, 2:46.51 PR).  Sophomore Josie Tetzlaff shaved off 1 second in the Varsity 200 IM with a time of 2:45.04 PR (3rd place) and Sheriff also had a strong swim with a time of 3:00.26 (5th place).  The Pirates dominated with JV 50 Free with 9 out of 10 swimmers from our team: Sophomore Eva Perez (1st place, 29.87 PR), Freshman Grace Linstroth (3rd place, 33.35 PR), Heinecke (4th place, 35.04), Freshman Serena Baumann (35.17 PR), Senior Reese Crandall (36.21), Senior Maria Wichmann (37.06), Freshman Emma Klingkammer (37.85), Sophomore Arianna Camilo (37.93 PR), Freshman Savannah Schmutzler (38.87).  Huber and Sophomore Maddi Klein continue to give each other good competition.  Huber finished 2nd with a time of 28.53 PR and Klein finished 3rd with a time of 29.53 followed by Ball (6th place, 31.27).  Our divers continue to shine with PR performances.  Sophomore Stephanie Schlessinger finished in 1st place with 163.40 points (PR) and Freshman Annastasia Wischki finished 3rd with 127.50 points (PR).  The girls gave it their all in the Varsity 100 Fly: Sophomore Abbey Lotz (3rd place, 1:11.36 PR), Tetzlaff (4th place, 1:12.37), Senior Erin Grisar (6th place, 1:22.25 PR).  The girls continue to show improvement in the JV 100 Free with Perez finishing 1st (1:06.40 PR) followed by Linstroth in 4th place (1:21.05), Freshman Samantha Bennett (1:16.83), Baumann (1:17.45), Crandall (1:20.79), Freshman Sophie Callies (1:27.62 PR), Sophomore Amanda Nolasco (1:30.44 PR).  In the Varsity 100 Free the girls hit PR times.  Huber finished 3rd with a time of 1:04.12 (PR) followed by Hadacek (4th place, 1:06.16 PR), Phillips (6th place, 1:12.93) and Sophomore Ashley Bensen (1:21.96 PR).  The season is early but the girls are making great progress in the Varsity 500 Free: Lotz (3rd place, 6:27.09), Setzer (4th place, 6:36.67 PR), Klein (5th place, 6:50.77), Sheriff (7:10.35 PR).  The Varsity 200 Free Relay of Tetzlaff, Huber, Ball and Setzer and Lotz got 2nd (2:00.95 PR).  Freshmen Amalia Kaye and Ellie Goeden had great swims in the JV 100 Back.  Kaye finished 1st with a time of 1:25.18 and Goeden finished 2nd with a time of 1:28.45.  In the Varsity 100 Back, both swimmers set a new PR: Peiffer (3rd place, 1:17.37 PR), Junior Nolari Hingiss (4th place, 1:22.65 PR).  In the JV 100 Breast, the girls did well with Freshman Emma Klingkammer finishing 2nd (1:48.98 PR) and Callies finishing 3rd (2:18.81).  Our Varsity breaststrokers continue to work hard and show improvement: Hadacek (3rd place, 1:28.03 PR), Junior Emmalee Schmutzler (5th place, 1:36.70 PR), and Bensen (1:41.29 PR).  Port had a strong finish to the meet with a 2nd place 400 Free Relay with Ball, Klein, Setzer, and anchored by Lotz (4:29.05 PR).  The girls did very well at their first home meet. Nice job, ladies!
