Meet Highlights: The girls did a great job in their first meet of the season. They were focused on their events and looked good on the blocks.  Top scorers were Sophomore Abbey Lotz with 7 individual points followed by Sophomores Josie Tetzlaff, Audyn Setzer and Emma Huber with 5 points each.  Lotz, Junior Caroline Hadaceck and Sophomore Stephanie Schlessinger earned the highest scoring spots with a 2nd place in the 200 IM, 100 Breast and Diving.  It’s still early in the season and the girls are on the right track!  The Swimmer/Diver of the Meet was awarded to Sophomores Emma Huber and Stephanie Schlessinger.

Individual Highlights: The girls opened the meet with a 3rd place finish in the Varsity 200 Medley race, with Sophomore Josie Tetzlaff, Junior Caroline Hadacek, Senior Erin Grisar and Sophomore Emma Huber with a time of 2:19.90.  We had a full roster for the JV and Varsity 200 Free, a great accomplishment for our team. Junior Avery Phillips scored 2 points for JV (4th place, 2:50.73) followed by Senior Olivia Heinecke (5th place, 2:54.11) and Junior Nolari Hingiss (6th place, 2:57.35).  In the Varsity 200 Free, Sophomore Audyn Setzer had a strong race coming in 4th (2:28.44) followed by teammates Junior Leah Sheriff (5th place, 2:39.54) and Senior Kelly Ball (6th place, 2:43.45).  Sophomore Abbey Lotz and Tetzlaff teamed up in the Varsity 200 IM coming in 2nd (2:44.08) and 3rd (2:46.45) respectively. The girls did great in the JV 50 Free with many girls swimming in a high school meet for the first time: Sophomore Eva Perez (1st place, 29.51), Senior Reese Crandall (5th place, 35.53), Junior Maria Wichmann (6th place, 35.85), Freshman Grace Linstroth (33.86), Freshman Samantha Bennett (34.45), Sophomore Serena Baumann (35.21), Freshman Emma Klingkammer (37.43), Freshman Savannah Schmutzler (38.42), Sophomore Ariana Camilo (38.46).  Sophomore Maddi Klein had an outstanding swim in the Varsity 50 Free (3rd place, 28.58 PR) dropping more than 2 seconds from her best time last year.  Huber finished 4th (28.83) and Ball finished 6th place (31.13).  Our divers helped get 5 points on the board for our team with Sophomore Stephanie Schlessinger finishing 2nd with 155.50 points and Freshman Annastasia Wischki finishing 5th (108.40).  The 100 Fly is always a tough event and our girls fought hard to finish strong.  Lotz was our highest scorer in this event with 3rd place (1:13.83).  Next to the wall was Senior Erin Grisar (5th place, 1:26.43).  The girls did well in the JV 100 Free: Perez (1st place, 1:09.34), Junior Shannon McConahy (3rd place, 1:14.28), Freshman Amalia Kaye (6th place, 1:17.99), Linstroth (1:17.66), Crandall (1:21.12), Sophomore Ashley Bensen (1:22.21), Freshman Sophie Callies (1:31.82), Sophomore Natalie Wells (1:31.91), Sophomore Amanda Nolasco (1:32.01). Our best event was the Varsity 100 Free with two girls earning PR’s at their first meet of the season, a remarkable achievement. Huber finished 3rd (1:04.30 PR), Klein finished 5th (1:07.00) and Hadacek finished 6th (107.57 PR).  The Varsity 500 Free was a tough race mainly because the girls have not been able to train over the summer, but the girls gave it their all.  Setzer finished 3rd (6:42.06), Sheriff finished 4th (7:12.55) and Grisar finished 5th (7:38.07).  The Varsity 200 Free Relay of Tetzlaff, Hadacek, Huber, and Lotz got 3rd (2:01.44).  Junior Taylor Peiffer led the way in the JV 100 Back (1st place, 1:21.08) followed by Freshman Brynn Nelson (3rd place, 1:37.64).  In the Varsity 100 Back, Tetlaff finished strong coming in 4th (1:19.18). Hingiss finished 5th (1:24.95) and Heinecke finished 6th (1:40.62).  In the JV 100 Breast, the girls did well with Freshman Emma Klingkammer finishing 4th (1:49.30) and Callies (1:58.63).  The girls worked hard in the Varsity 100 Breast: Hadacek (2nd place, 1:28.19), Junior Emmalee Schmutzler (4th place, 1:38.82), Sophomore Ashley Bensen (5th place (1:39.20).  Port had a strong finish to the meet with a 3rd place 400 Free Relay with Klein, Grisar, Setzer, and anchored by Lotz (4:34.86).  We had a great meet against the formidable Nicolet.  The girls executed their races well and we know improvement will come with more swimming. We look forward to seeing their progress! Nice job, ladies!
