Softball Senior Jaymie Nietzer

Jaymie plays first base for the Varsity Softball team and brings a powerful swing to our lineup. Jaymie has a great attitude! She always makes sure the team has good music to get pumped up before games! Jaymie put in a lot of work in the off-season with attending optional sessions in the weight room and hitting clinics. We would have loved to see her thrive this year on the field as a senior. Jaymie will be attending Marian University and majoring in Business. Best of luck to you, Jaymie!

Softball Senior Keelie Schumacher

Keelie has been a starter on the Varsity Softball team since her freshman year. Keelie is a clutch hitter. She is a leader in the infield at shortstop and communicates with her teammates. She is quick and smart on the bases. Keelie brought leadership to the team during her Junior year season when she organized team bonding activities and met with the team to establish team goals and individual player goals. Keelie is a two sport athlete and plays basketball for PWHS. Keelie will be attending Marian University and majoring in Nursing. Best of luck to you, Keelie!

Senior Morgan Stone

This week we are highlighting senior Morgan Stone.

Morgan is our Varsity starting catcher. Morgan led the team in hits (23) and batting average (.383) during her Junior year season. Morgan is a natural born leader and was one of the captains on the Varsity softball team. Coaches could always count on Morgan for anything. Morgan played with heart and encouraged her teammates to do the same. Morgan put in work in the off season with weight lifting, youth camps, and attending open gym sessions. Morgan was also very involved in DECA at PWHS. Morgan will be going to Iowa State University and majoring in Business (Undecided). You have made a huge impact on the coaches and teammates you have played with. Best of luck to you, Morgan!

A highlight of PWHS Softball from Morgan:

Over these past four years playing for PWHS I have gotten to stick with my fellow seniors, and also develop relationships with players in older and younger classes. This year's team although we did not play any game I can tell you it was going to be the best year. My favorite part about playing softball at PWHS was being able to play with the girls I grew up playing with. It is hard to say goodbye without really finishing out a season but I know that if the younger girls play as friends and care for each other the way me Emma, Keelie, and Jaymie did then they will continue to do great things. It's not the specific games or practices that stand out to me but its the friendships I have gained throughout these years.

Senior Emma Uselding

Coaches Highlight of Emma Uselding

We want to recognize our Seniors this year on the Varsity Softball Team. The Senior we will highlight this week is Emma Uselding. Emma is a leader by example and is very reliable. Emma keeps her teammates smiling and in a good mood. Emma had a dominating Junior year season on the mound for the Pirates. She threw a career high 12 strikeout game against Homestead, and the following day, racked up 10 more strikeouts in our game against Slinger. She had a total of 58 strikeouts for the Pirates during her Junior year. Emma spreads her positive attitude in practices and games, and puts in a lot of work during the off season despite being a two-sport athlete. Emma will be going to the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and majoring in Physcial Therapy. Best of luck to you, Emma!

Emma's Highlight of Playing Softball for PWHS:

The past four years playing softball for PWHS have been absolutely amazing. I’m so thankful that I got to continue my experience with Morgan, Keelie, and Jaymie after playing with them for as long as I can remember, and that they stuck by my side through everything. I also could not have asked for better teammates and coaches, and I have formed bonds on this team that I will hold on to for a lifetime. Not only do I love the game days and the practices, but I love the people that I am on the field with. From working together on the field, to the bus rides home, to jamming out to funky town before every game, I am extremely grateful for everything this sport has given to me. Although it did not end the way we wanted, I know that this year would have been amazing, and I am going to miss everything about PWHS softball.

Message from Coaches about 2020 Season

We feel terrible about the cancellation of spring sports this year. You all put in such hard work at open gyms, Delta sessions, and youth camps. It doesn’t seem fair that we had something really special this year, and didn’t get a chance to show on the field. It was so fun working with this year’s team while it lasted. THANK YOU for all your hard work and dedication pre-season.

Seniors - We are so terribly sorry you had to end your high school softball career this way. This does not have to be the end of your softball career! We encourage you to try out at your colleges, whether it be on the school team, intramurals, or club leagues. If you need help reaching out to college coaches, we are happy to help with that!

We will plan a team picnic or some type of get together when everything has passed. We can’t wait to recognize our seniors and see you all again!

Please know that we are thinking of you all during this time, and hope everyone is safe and healthy. Do not hesitate to reach out if you need help virtually with softball. We are happy to give you drills or look at videos of swings and provide tips, etc. If you need someone to talk to, we are all here for you!

Stay positive and keep playing catch, hitting, and pitching with family members! Stay healthy! Good luck with your academics! We will be in contact!

Coach Ben, Coach Smo, Coach Tim, and Coach Sue
