Girls Varsity Volleyball
Please note that the last two days, someone has been going into the girls locker room during practices/games, moving things around and stealing things. A pair of shoes was moved to possibly be taken later, while money was stolen from somebodies wallet.
The issue has been brought to the attention of the administration, but we ask that all girls PLEASE GET A LOCK FOR YOUR GYM LOCKER, AND KEEP YOUR STUFF INSIDE YOUR LOCKER WHEN NOT IN THE ROOM.
Hopefully we are able to get to the bottom of this issue, but the safest, surest way to keep your belongings safe is to lock them inside your lockers.
We regret to inform you that the concession stand will NOT be open on Saturday for the JV Volleyball Invitational here at Port Washington High School. The concession stand is the primary means of raising funds for the Volleyball program when hosting an invitational and is essential in providing food to all of the participants and staff involved. Unfortunately NO JV2 Parents have stepped forward to volunteer their services on behalf of the program. If we are to continue hosting Volleyball Invitationals in the future, we need our parents to step forward to provide these services.
The Schools and all staff participating in Saturday's JV Invitational will be notified that they will need to bring their own food and drink. Please spread the word to those that are coming to cheer on our team that concessions will not be available.
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope your week is going well! Contact days have been great and I am excited for the season start! Just a few reminders before we get to try out times.
1.) We still have 1 more contact day, Tuesday the 31st 430-730pm. It is important for you to be in attendance as these are very basically extra practice days prior to season start.
2.) Parents Meeting is Monday, August 6th, 630-730 pm in the library (both parents and athletes need to be in attendance unless I am consulted prior to the meeting)
3.) All paperwork (except for the athletic fee) must be turned in prior to the first day of tryouts in order to participate!!!!! and athletic fees must be paid once your daughter makes a team.
4.) From Aug 1st-12th us coaches can't work with our athletes do to WIAA rules but I highly suggest attending Adversity WI Volleyball camps in that time, especially ones working on defensive skills. If you are not able to make contact days I would highly suggest attending these as well as I will get a report from Dave in regards to performance and coachability.
Now for the good stuff TRYOUTS!!! Tryouts will be August 13th-15th make sure you get there 1530 mins early to help set up nets and warm up, times are as follows
Monday, August 13th JV1&2 8am-10am and Varsity 6:30pm-830pm
Tuesday, August 14th all teams 4pm-7pm
Wednesday, August 15th JV1&2 8am-10am and Varsity 6:30pm-830pm
Practices following that will be 430pm-730pm daily until the start of school.
When school starts jv2 will practice 3-5pm, jv1 5-7 (athletes are expected to stay on site and do homework / watch tape with varsity prior to practice unless they have an excused absence, ie doctors appointment, which must be cleared with the coach prior to absence, so it will be important that you pack a snack) and finally, varsity will practice from 3-6pm. Varsity will be watching tape during that first hour of practice so make sure that you bring a snack.

Good afternoon and hello,
I am Mikala your new head varsity coach and I am looking forward to meeting you all and to having a great season. A little about me, I played volleyball from the time I was in second grade till my freshman year of college when an injury took me out of the game and led me to coach. I have been coaching for the last 3 years and have 7 seasons under my belt between high school ball and club. I grew up in central Wisconsin but have been living on the east side of Milwaukee the last three years going to college. Currently, I am in a gap year before I start my master's degree at UWM for sustainable peacebuilding.
Now that you know a little bit about me lets get down to the important stuff. I met with the JV1 and JV2 coaches this morning and we set up some times that work for us to hold contact days this week.
Tentatively (we are waiting for gym availability confirmation) they are as follows
Tomorrow Tuesday, July 24th 4:30-7:30 pm
Thursday, July 26th 4:30-7:30 pm
Friday, July 27th 3-6pm
Tuesday, July 31st, 4:30-7:30 pm
Parents meeting Monday, August 6th 6:30-7:30 pm
Finally a reminder that all physical paperwork MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE TRYOUTS ON AUGUST 13th in order to participate in tryouts.
If you are looking for additional prep for tryouts please look at Adversity WI Volleyball Club as they have some great programs, I coach for them and Dave knows his stuff.
I will see you all at the open gym tonight.
