Girls Varsity Volleyball
PW Volleyball Families,
RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES
I am pleased to announce that we have received approval to begin Summer Open Gyms/Contact Days, however, things will be a little different than we are accustomed to this summer. The Port Washington Volleyball coaching staff has created our Return to Play Guidelines in order for us to reduce the risk of the spread of Covid-19. These guidelines are posted on our website (click here), and will be posted in the gym. These guidelines have taken into consideration the best practices and return to play sport specific guidelines of the WIAA and the Washington Ozaukee County Health Department.
Please take the time to read and familiarize yourself with these guidelines prior to attending your first event.
Our revised summer Pre-season Schedule is also posted on our website (click here). Our first Open Gym is scheduled for Monday July 13th from 7:15pm-9:00pm.
PARKING, ENTRANCE, AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
To reduce the burden on our cleaning staff the school district has asked us to do the following:
- Park at the bottom of the hill by the water park, and walk up to the gym doors.
- We will be having all participants and coaches enter and exit these doors only to reduce the cleaning afterwards.
- To control the traffic, the doors will be unlocked 15 minutes prior to our scheduled event and will be set to lock 15 minutes after the start of the event. Please plan on arriving during this window to ensure entrance.
- Use the bathroom before attending. Bathrooms will be available, but only for emergencies. If someone does need the bathroom only one person is allowed in the bathroom at a time.
- Bring your own water bottles. All drinking fountains will be turned off.
I am very excited to being our Pre-season events and I am greatly looking forward to getting back in the gym. I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
Coach Paul Jungbauer
All open gyms will be suspended until further notice. We will post online when they are scheduled to resume. We will be awaiting word from the school district when we are set to resume. In the meantime please stay safe and we will see you when we resume at a later date.
We have been averaging 26 participants at the first couple of open gyms which has been great to see. I hope to continue that momentum when we are able to resume.
The Port Washington High School Volleyball Staff has posted the schedule of opportunities for Volleyball this pre-season at Port Washington High School on our program website. Click here to view the Schedule. These opportunities are for incoming Freshmen-Seniors in the school year of 2020-2021. Please note the differences between the options. Participation in any of the scheduled dates are not mandatory and a roster spot is not guaranteed to anyone who does participate. These options are a great way to get touches in and improve your skills to give you the best opportunity to make one of our rosters in the fall. All are important for the success of the program, but if time in the summer is limited I would suggest to plan on attending the Summer Camp and the Contact Days as the Port Washington High School Coaching Staff will be allowed to instruct.
OPEN GYMS- These are opportunities for students to get touches and time on the court. Per WIAA rules coaches can be in attendance but are not able to instruct.
CONTACT DAYS- WIAA rules allow 5 days that the coaching staff in the summer is allowed to coach the athletes through the school. This is only open to those that are enrolled at Port Washington High School and incoming freshman.
SUMMER CAMP- This is an opportunity to improve your skills through on court instruction and play it out drills with both athletes at Port Washington High School and athletes from other schools. Coaches are allowed to coach per WIAA rules as it will be ran through another organization other than Port Washington High School. The Summer Camp comes with a registration fee per participant. Information on how to register will be communicated at a later date. This is open to any high school student from any school during the 2020-2021 school year
I look forward to the upcoming season and seeing you all at our summer workouts.
